‘Like a 1940s version of Romeo & Juliette.’ Review by Our Little Book Shelf

‘Wow..... What a story! Wonderfully Heartbreaking. Set during world war 2, this is the story of two Italian families, one Catholic and the other Jewish and of how Mussolini's reign along with the Nazi invasions shaped the rest of their lives.

My only complaint is that the ending felt a tiny bit rushed.... Although I do think there is an option to write another book here,with Jacobos story, from after he left the village. This is fictional story, but I'm sure every town across Europe had a story like this.

The love story between Bella & Rico was like a 1940s version of Romeo & Juliette.
I loved this book so much that I didn't want it to end. The descriptions of the surroundings were beautiful and its made me really want to visit Italy as soon as this corona virus heads off.
